In The Works

I’m currently working on a novel about two women, meeting after almost twenty years. They played high school basketball for rival schools and only knew each other by their player persona. I’m about a third of the way through and am still waiting for a title to hit me upside the head. The novel is not about flashbacks, but more of what’s happening in their lives now. They meet, of all places, when they are called to the principal’s office.

I’m also struggling to finish a third story in the Christmas Carol Series. I had hoped to have it out by Valentine’s Day, well I didn’t make it. Look for it in late April, early May.

My Writing Process

I write my first draft using paper and pen. Shocking I know, but that’s me. There’s something about a smooth pen gliding across a piece of paper that inspires me. My current favorite pen is the Profile by Paper Mate.

For shorter stories, the first edit happens as I’m converting the story from paper to MS Word. For longer stories/novels, I often edit as I go, making notes in the margins or writing inserts. When the page gets too messy, I type it before I forget what I was trying to say. It’s not the most organized approach to writing, it’s just what works for me.
